Gerstle and Ocean Cove

back to my home page. To see a map of this area.

A kayak camping trip in September of 1998 started at Ocean Cove.

Packing up to leave from the private boat ramp at Ocean Cove.

SCUBA class at Gerstle Cove

Fuzzy pictures of my brother Paul and my dive instructor Jon. Apparently a drop of water ruined one picture, and Jon is just too animated to catch on film.

The water in the cove was so clear, I could see the bottom. It is a reserve, and is supposed to be loaded with untouchable abalone. I coudn't see any, but thought if I stuck the camera in the water it might get a picture of one. Unfortunately, the camera could not even see as well as I could!

In March of 1996, I went back to Gerstle Cove again and went kayak surfing on Stump Beach while my brother Paul and his girlfriend Erin were SCUBA diving in the cove. Paul said that the beach was covered with SCUBA divers like a heard of neoprene covered seals:

I met Peter while out on the water. He was also kayaking while a friend went diving, and we went to surf on Stump Beach together.
