Baja, Punta Las Animas to Sierra Agua de Soda, April 22nd 2000.
After another early start we rounded the end of Punta Las Animas and turned south. This was a rugged coastline w/coves and arches to try to pass under. There were a few “rivers” on the map but these turned out to be dry areas with dumpy beaches that we didn’t feel comfortable landing on. We did find a place to land for lunch, then continued south. In the afternoon we dithered about where to camp for the evening. I was following our progress on the topo map and wanted to go a little farther to a beach behind a protecting point ahead. But I was over-ridden and instead we turned back to a smaller beach we had passed earlier. It was not a great campsite but was adequate for the evening.
The beach we landed on was not near any point or cove that had a name on the map, but the mountains behind us were named Sierra Agua de Soda. As usual, the terrain was a dry desert and we saw no signs of water, fresh or soda flavored.
