Surfing Salmon Creek Beach, August 10th 2002.

I could not find anyone to kayak with me this weekend and wanted to go get some exercise. My Coaster was on my car and the swell was not high so I thought it might be possible to get some surfing done at Salmon Creek Beach. The swell was not high but the waves were dumping brutally over the offshore sand shelf. It was occasionally possible to get a ride but most often I either missed the wave or fell over the edge of it and side-surfed to shore. There were some board surfers playing in some areas that I assume were a little better for riding but I left their waves to them.

The surfers had their friends on shore watching them and cheering them on from time to time. I caught one wave just right, felt my hips lock onto the right angle to control the boat, and zoomed to shore! The group of people on watching the surfers cheered for me! Perhaps these surfer dudes are not all bad after all!
