It was time for the BASK planning meeting and once again it was being held at the home of Linda Garbisi and Tom Pickford. There was a paddle on the river after the meeting and I brought my gear to join in this. However, after spending hours waiting for the cars to shuttle last time, I was totally uninterested in kayaking up to down-town Napa. Instead I wanted to try going up one of the sloughs in the area and planned a round trip. A few other people joined me.
We had to paddle into the wind for a mile and a half to get to a turnoff to a channel appropriately named “Mud Slough”. Although the wind was more-or-less with us going up this slough, a few people were worried about fighting the wind on the way back. I also had an appointment to pick up my dad that afternoon, so we didn’t explore the length of the slough before we turned back. Of course once we were back on the main Napa River the wind helped push us back to Tom and Linda’s house.
