back to my home page. To see a map of this area.

This dog, Sadie by name, could not bear to be left behind on a Russian River trip.

This piece of driftwood on Penny Island has a remarkable likeness to the head of a rinocerous!

When we could not paddle in the ocean, Sami Iwata and I went for a short trip up the Russian River.

A BASK camping trip from Duncans Mills to Jenner.
The Sizling Tandoor restaurant, and a rock in the middle of the Russian River.
After paddling down the river, Don, Roger, and I slid our kayaks over the spit and went for a paddle through the Jenner rock garden and north to Russian Gulch Beach.

Here's two pictures of the Jenner boat ramp:

Here's two pictures of Penney Island with Jenner in the background:

And here are a few pictures of the south side of the Russian River accross from Jenner. These pictures have Ospreys and Great Blue Herons in them, but the resolution is not quite good enough to see them well:

Here is a picture of the Jenner Beach and the off shore rock garden that I like paddling through:

On March 2nd 1996, I paddled through that rock garden from Russian Gulch Beach and took the following pictures:

One big rock off shore from Jenner has a warren of little caves near the water level:

The town of Jenner is visible in the distance:
